The scenario of teacher education in the state of Bihar has taken in new bright term in last one decade. The government of Bihar has made it mandatory that no person shall be deemed eligible for his/her appointment for teacher ship unless he/she has obtained B.Ed. degree. As a result of this mandatory provision a large number of institutions for imparting teacher education have been established in the recent past. For example there was only one college i.e. Government Teachers Training College, Turki Muzaffarpur for imparting teacher education. However that college, Two, was closed for a long period. On account of craze for teacher education more than three dozen colleges for imparting teacher education have been recognised by the NCTE and the affiliating University i.e. B.R. Ambedkar Bihar University Muzaffarpur has granted them affiliation. The future of teacher education in the state of Bihar is bright and brighter and it will be brightest in the very near future. Thousands of aspirants are pursuing B.Ed. course for employment and shaping their future career. Teacher education and institutions imparting teacher education are primarily and mainly being governed by the rules, regulations and policies framed by the NCTE since NCTE happens to be the APEX body to frame rules, regulations and policies on academic and administrative governance of this discipline and faculty. The affiliating university which grants affiliation to the colleges imparting teachers education has its own act and statutes consequence upon the grant of recognition by the NCTE the affiliating university before grant of affiliation to any academic institution requesting to grant teacher education constitutes a team of inspectors consisting of the senior most faculty members i.e. The Dean of the faculty of humanities, Social Sciences, Commerce and Science besides the inspectors of colleges of the university. The inspection report is consider by the statutory affiliation and new teaching program committee, authorities of the university i.e. Academic Council, Syndicate and SENATE only after the approval of these bodies the concern university grants affiliation and permission for admission.
In accordance with the provisions of the Act the faculty considers the constitutions of the board of courses of studies and in light of the resolution of the faculty the University constitutes a board of courses of studies consisting of the very senior faculty members of the concerned faculty to frame syllabus of the course and the said syllabus is considers by the academic council and approved by it.
The admission ordinance and examination regulation is framed by the statutory statutes committee and the same are considered and approved by the academic council, Syndicate and SENATE. After approval of the SENATE the same is considered and approved by the honourable Chancellor.
